Nanaimo Aquatic Centre - Closing January 14th, 2026

Project Name: Nanaimo Aquatic Centre

Project Description: The Nanaimo Aquatic Centre project is a renovation within an active, operational public facility owned by the City of Nanaimo. Most of the work will be carried out while the facility remains open, which places a strong emphasis on coordination, planning, and control of impacts to ongoing operations. This is an existing building renovation, not new construction, and bidders are expected to account for limited access, space constraints, phased execution, and close coordination with the general contractor (Chandos) and facility operations team.

The primary scope of work for this tender package is the base-building HVAC system upgrade, including associated mechanical, electrical, control, structural and building interface work required to support the installation, tie-in, and commissioning of the upgraded systems. The work involves demolition of existing components, integration with live systems, and installation in a high-humidity natatorium environment, which requires careful consideration of materials, sequencing, and protection measures.
